Waitrose, in partnership with Daily Dose, has released a limited edition apple juice made from leftover fruit from their farm.
Waitrose Farm, located on the Lakeford Estate, approached Daily Dose hoping to use surplus crops, damaged by high temperatures and poor rainfall, to produce apple juice.
This limited edition bottle will be available in major UK retailers from December 17th. It comes in 900ml and is priced at £3.50.
The move underlines the supermarket chain’s commitment to reducing food waste across its operations, following its donation of 25 million leftovers earlier this year.
George Hughes-Davies, founder of Daily Dose, said: “Lakeford Estate is one of the most beautiful and sustainable farms in the UK, so I’m honoured to be invited to help them put their apples to good use.”
“This juice perfectly embodies the Daily Dose philosophy of repurposing high-quality British ingredients and transforming them into delicious dishes. We’re delighted to introduce this limited-edition juice to Waitrose customers just in time for Christmas.”
It’s also part of Waitrose’s commitment to supporting British farmers; Leckford Farm has been operating under the John Lewis Partnership umbrella for over 90 years.
